Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
