Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes struck power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
